Weekend Reading (Returns!): Link Blog for 12-21-07

By Dan Wool on December 21st, 2007 In Weekend Reading

“Weekend Reading” is back, baby!  Each week (except for the last 12 or so) Valley PR Blog highlights poignant posts and pregnant pauses from the week in PR, Marketing, Social Media and Current Events.

This week:

Throwing out the social media rulebook (and response) – Media Bullseye challenges the new rules in probably the most blogged-about article this week.

PR and marketing errors pepper Fortune’s annual list - Shel Holtz hits on a familiar Valley PR Blog refrain — that business operations and PR strategy go hand in hand. (And while we’re mentioning Shel, he also had a great post this week worth bookmarking that we covered in our Twitter rant).

Why PR isn’t dead (and Facebook might be) - Corporate PR’s Elizabeth Albrycht seconds the dangers of management arrogance and PR-exec team disconnects.

Best ProfNet Queries of the Year List - via PR Week.

Manage your online reputation - Green Banana’s Heather Yaxley offers essential tips on social media networking for young PR pros.

Commodore 64 still loved after all these years - CNN.com article via Micropersuasion/Steve Rubel’s links. Two things:

  1. Notice CNN’s new layout (tabs) - and try to debate the importance social media press releases. Content is king on the web, and now web journalism.
  2. This was the computer I grew up with. 64k - its entire RAM! - today, is about the size of a one page Word doc. And we liked it!

If you have any interesting articles, please send them to us for next week’s Weekend Reading.
