1. What do you do at KPNX?
I am anchor weekend evenings and do special reports for the popular franchise “School Solutions.”
2. What kinds of stories are you looking for?
I’m looking for visual people stories involving innovative solutions to education issues.
3. What’s the best way to approach you with a pitch?
The best way to approach me is with detailed email with the who, what, where and how’s.
4. What recommendations do you have for PR professionals?
Don’t ask reporters to do free commercials. We’re trying to find the truth and tell compelling stories. Don’t try to pull the wool over our eyes. Deliver what’s promised.
5. What’s the strangest/weirdest pitch you’ve ever received?
I can’t think of a strange pitch right now but I was appalled when a PR professional emailed me with questions he wanted me to ask his client and a suggested script. If he didn’t have good contacts I would have put him on my ignore list.
