1. What do you do?
I write about the business of health care, biotech and education/workforce.

2. What kinds of stories are you looking for?
Breaking news stories about business deals, mergers, acquisitions, new companies, new products, issues.

3. What’s the best way to approach you with a pitch?
Email

4. What recommendations do you have for PR professionals?
We go to print on Wednesdays, which means we are most stressed on Wednesday mornings. It’s the worst time to pitch a story in our newsroom. Call on Thursday or Friday, when my mind is somewhat clear again. But even more important, because we’re a weekly, the best way to get your story on the front page is to offer us an exclusive, where we can break the story before anyone else. Otherwise, the best we can offer is to get your story in our online edition.

5. What’s the strangest/weirdest pitch you’ve ever received?
I can’t think of one, but the best pitches I receive are when they say these magic words: “It’s an exclusive.”
