How green is our valley?
Tomorrow at the Green Summit, a conference and expo I mentioned before, Valley organizations get a chance to tell their green story, and learn from others as we face the challenges specific to a desert state.
The man behind this huge effort is Chris Samila, an ASU student-turned entrepreneur who quickly realized that his school project was perfectly timed to meet/promote/back the business issues around sustainability being addressing in the valley.
From the time I met Chris (full disclosure: ASU’s Global Institute of Sustainability and the Decision Theater is a sponsor of Green Summit) I couldn’t help notice his infectious optimism. He seems always willing to try something out rather than analyze it to death.
I just spoke to him, as he was waiting in the studio for a Good Morning Arizona interview. Samila says he is amazed at the response the conference is getting from businesses. More interesting, a lot of marketing and HR people are signing up. One theory, he says is that potential hires are beginning to ask if the company they are considering has a green building policy. More than 10,000 people are expected to be at the summit
In case you or a client is interested, the Summit tracks look at alternative futures with regard to building design, energy, water, even green foods and green careers!
Green Summit dates: Sept 5th and 6th, from 10 am to 5 pm
Venue: Phoenix Convention Center
