Great 2007 closer – changing of the (old) guard
To mark the 50th anniversary of the queen’s televised message to the country, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II was going to replace TV with a Twitter account. OK, just kidding, but close.
The palace actually moved into social media. The Royal Channel has been launched on YouTube where this year’s message will be aired tomorrow. Fifty years ago, on camera, the monarch spoke of “the speed at which change is happening around us.” She was referring to opening up to TV.
I am not making this up: the podcast of the address will also be available.
