Media Training from the Media’s Mouth

By on June 9th, 2009 In Professional Development

While many of us are media trained – or even media trainers – most of us come from the world of PR/marketing or even journalism. So, to help usher in the hot summer, the Phoenix PRSA Chapter has put together a hot luncheon to talk about media training from the media’s perspective. During this interactive luncheon (tweet from event – #phxprsa), two of the Valley’s own media members will offer their take on spokespeople, media training and how to work it for both the social and traditional media worlds. Of course, there will also be success and horror stories aplenty, as well as time for questions and discussion. Join us!

About the Speakers:

Jan Buchholz has been a staff reporter for American Cities Business Journals for the past three years, most recently covering real estate and transportation for the Phoenix Business Journal. Many years ago, Jan received her degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. Between then and now she has had many jobs as a reporter, editor and public relations consultant. Her greatest achievement, however, has been raising Kylene, 26, and Kira, 20, to be fine young women. She is also very active on Twitter.

In more than 20 years as a reporter and newscaster, Cary Pfeffer covered every kind of story, from fires and earthquakes to documentaries in Vietnam and an interview with the President on Air Force One. These days he heads a firm he established in 2002 called ClearComm Consulting. The company works with clients when they communicate with the media and live audiences, providing them with a competitive edge through training and consulting. The clients ClearComm works with include Cold Stone Creamery, HOK, Philosophy, the City of Glendale, LifeLock, Mark-Taylor Residential and the Arizona Department of Transportation.
