IABC-Phoenix announces new board
The Phoenix chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC Phoenix) recently announced that Jessica Hansen has been appointed chapter president and Suzanne McCormick executive vice president as part of its board of directors for the 2009-2010 program year. The two were unanimously elected by the association’s board at its annual planning meeting on June 16.
Hansen previously served as executive vice president for IABC Phoenix. In her new role, she will be responsible for the overall direction and programming for the 260-plus member group. Hansen is an integrated account executive with Mindspace advertising and public relations. She is a graduate of Arizona State University.
Others elected to the board include: Rachel Pearson, immediate past president; Debra Plunkett, vice president, member benefits; Jackie Wright, vice president, membership; Cory Craft, vice president, marketing; Mandy Minette, vice president, internal communications; Rebecca Armendariz, vice president, community involvement; Bart Butler and Traci Baker, co-vice presidents, professional development; Jonathan Mazinter and LaKisha Geans, co-vice presidents, special events; and Sarah Bateman, executive secretary.

I’m honored to serve as IABC Phoenix chapter president for the 2009-2010 board term. The Board of Directors team for this year is an outstanding group of volunteers (including Molly Ingham–who recently joined the team as VP, Finance and was not mentioned with the Board of Directors list above). I’m looking forward to all that we’ll accomplish this year for our members, and for the community.
And, Abbie, of course I’d love to continue to find ways for the IABC Phoenix and Phoenix PRSA chapters to work together. I plan to keep in touch as you prepare to fulfill the role of Phoenix PRSA chapter president next year (Congratulations!).
Congratulations and Thank You to the 2009-2010 IABC Phoenix Board of Directors, and to all of our dedicated volunteers. I look forward to serving as your chapter president!
