Heavy hitters at PRSA 2008 International Conference
What does Craig Newmark of Craigslist, GM’s well known blogger Bob Lutz, and author Mitch Albom have in common? They are all speaking at PRSA’s 2008 International Conference in Detroit this October.
Craig Newmark will be delivering the keynote. I guess he’s a sort of grand daddy of social media, considering that Craigslist came into being thirteen years ago –long before Google, Flickr and Wikipedia appeared on the scene.
As would be expected, conference tracks are rife with digital media and social media topics, such as ‘True Tales From the Social Media Measurement Trenches,’ ‘Examining the increasing impact of social media on public relations practice’ and ‘PR on Steroids: Using Technology to Pump Up Your PR Power.’

Craiglist is a lifeline in many cities, especially in the Bay Area where Craig started it and disrupted classified ad revenue streams forever.
It’s taken about five years to finally start catching on with Valley employers and recruiting firms. You’d be surprised by who’s using it now to source candidates and post legitimate jobs.

Craig,
How about a shorter word - Precursor? Thanks for the comment.

I’d just like to say to all the folks out there who are groaning about the location of this convention that the Detroit area can be very fun and beautiful to visit. It will be fall there, so the colors will be gorgeous. University of Michigan football games are some of best to attend in the country and the Wolverines will play their in-state rival, MSU on Oct 25 in Ann Arbor. Go shopping at Sommerset Mall in Troy or drink/eat/gamble away at Greektown. Oh, and learn alot at this PRSA convention. I wish I could attend. I miss my homestate in the fall
