Forty Under 40 nominations open

By on December 29th, 2008 In Professional Development

40under40Nominations are now open for the Business Journal’s 2009 Forty-Under-40. To submit a nomination, visit http://FortyUnder40.org. I have to admit, I’m a tad disappointed they are using popular alums like ABC-15′s Katie Raml, Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall and Phoenix councilman Greg Stanton in their advertising campaign. What about founder of Valley PR Blog Len Gutman? Where’s the love Business Journal?

At any rate, this is a good way to get some publicity for your clients if they happen to be under 40.

Seriously… You’re famous! They should tag your name all over the campaign. ;) -Becky

They don’t love me either. They picked Kim McWaters over me. Shocking!

Len- Why don’t you use your considerable skills and influence to convince the Biz Journal to launch a
Forty Over 40 or a Fifty Over 50? With careers and lifespans lasting longer than ever before, it’s time to end antiquated thinking and stereotypes about age.

Len:
You know that I’ve been part of the Arizona media community for a few years. You’re entitled to hold your head high, regardless of anyone’s discriminatory age list.
It was (and continues to be) a pleasure working with you.
Best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous 2009.

jakers: you’re mean. ;) I was under 40 in 2003 when I won the dang award!

pat: I think you’re correct. I’ll ask Don Henninger why they don’t have a 50 over 50 list!

Len – Great! Thanks! And here’s some inspiration for you and Don -

Encore careers combine personal fulfillment, social impact and continued income, enabling people to put their passion to work for the greater good.

The tarnished dream of Golden Years of endless leisure is giving way to a new form of practical idealism: real jobs tackling real problems and making real impact.

It’s a growing trend. A 2008 Civic Ventures survey found that more than 5 million people ages 44 to 70 have begun encore careers. Of those not already in encore careers, half say they want them.

I was thinking the same thing…all popular, well known people.
