Allison & Partners Exec to Speak at June IABC Luncheon

By on May 25th, 2010 In Professional Development

tombirophoto(4)“Moving Target: Connecting with Today’s Mobile Consumer” will be the title of the presentation by Tom Biro, Vice President, Allison & Partners – Seattle at the June IABC Phoenix luncheon.

Users of mobile devices, like Smartphones and now the iPad, are a high-value target for marketers, with sales of these devices increasing more than 50% in just the past year.   Easy online shopping and price comparison, location-aware apps and augmented reality are just a few of the game-changing features mobile devices bring to the table, and which marketers and communicators must be aware of.   Tom Biro has worked on PR, marketing, digital and social media campaigns for companies like MTV, Nikon, Volkswagen, Sun Microsystems and American Express. He says reaching mobile users is only partly about placing ads in their favorite social network application or sending digital coupons; it’s increasingly about being where they are — sometimes before they know they’re going there. Those attending Tom’s presentation will learn:

  • Key statistics and habits regarding Smartphone usage
  • Which mobile applications are ripe for reaching target audiences
  • The best first steps to incorporating these tools into the marketing mix
  • Why it’s important to participate in this space
  • Measures and metrics for evaluating mobile marketing efforts

Date: Thursday, June 17
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Place: University Club of Phoenix (39 E. Monte Vista, Phoenix)

Great to see IABC bring someone of this caliber to speak. Hope it starts a trend.

The topic is VERY timely. Last year I pitched a client targeting high school students; recommending (believe AP calls it) smart phone apps. Their input? “We want print and television advertising.” 20th Century thinking!

Can’t wait to hear Mr. Biro.

Outside of the fact that he and I work at the same company, Tom is SUPER savvy…and I’m saying this in the most unbiased way.

From every interaction I’ve had with him, I’ve come away smarter. Internally his answers to our “common” questions are pure gold and I expect nothing less from this presentation.

Cheers
Brent
