The Arizona Association of Black Journalists is seeking new entries for the second annual Arizona Media Diversity Awards program.

The program aims to recognize Arizona journalists and media members committed to sharing diverse stories reflective of Arizona’s minority communities. Winners of the inaugural award in 2007 include Jacque Tobias, a freelance writer, for or her moving story on the Lost Boys of Sudan; and Omadelle Nelson and Todd Jackson of KPHO-TV5 for their story on an inspirational teacher at Phoenix Central High School.

Arizona Media Diversity Awards Committee is currently accepting submissions from professional and student journalists in the categories of Print, Magazine, Broadcast, Online/New Media and Art/Graphics. To be eligible for consideration, submissions must have been published, broadcast or disseminated online in a recognized Arizona publication, broadcast outlet or Web site in the 2007 calendar year.

Along with the fundamental elements of journalism, entries must reflect the spirit of diversity in content and subject matter. Entries will be judged by a committee affiliated with the National Association of Black Journalists.
Winners will be announced in June of 2008. Entries for the 2008 Arizona Media Diversity Awards must be postmarked by midnight April 25, 2008
