Twittering tips for dummies
The other day someone sent me a link to a blog by New York Times tech columnist David Pogue about how to use Twitter from a beginners perspective. I admit I’ve been slow to jump on the Twitter bandwagon, mostly because I didn’t see much value beyond tweeting about your blog posts to drive traffic. I’m still not sure what to use Twitter for, but Pogue’s column offers a really solid starting point.

Thanks for linking. I’ve been trying to tackle Twitter more in the last month and thought I got a good hold on it this week. It’s just a disservice to clients not to at least know about it and how it works. Now trying to get co-workers involved, that’s a bit trickier.

The Times post really only scraped the surface, and in the end I felt he left an almost negative review of Twitter. Reading the comments on the page seemed to leave that impression, anyway.
One thing from the post that really seemed mis-informed: “Twitter IS a massive time-drain.”
It’s really only a time-drain if you’re not using the tools offered to keep it from becoming one.

Great post, thanks, Len! I too was reluctant to use Twitter until recently. I read in Wired a few months ago that blogging was dead and Twitter was the place to be, but I’m not entirely convinced it’s an even trade.
