Vigil for Ling, Lee to be held Thursday in Tempe
Two U.S. journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who work for San Francisco-based Current TV — a media venture founded by former Vice President Al Gore — were arrested March 17, 2009 near the North Korean border while reporting on refugees living in China.
Both women, accused by North Korea of crossing into the country illegally from China and committing hostile acts, were tried on criminal charges on June 4. On June 8, they were sentenced to 12 years in hard labor camps.
A vigil for Laura and Euna will be held at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe in support of their freedom and swift release. If you’d like to attend:

WHERE: Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe, AZ
The Phoenix vigil is among several being held concurrently nationwide. Other vigils will be held in Boston, Birmingham, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
