Last night’s vigil for Ling and Lee

By on July 10th, 2009 In People

LingandLee_vigilI stopped by at Changing Hands Bookstore last evening, the location for the vigil for the two journalists arrested in March, in North Korea. The goal was to collect one million signatures to petition their release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee.

The Huffington Post reports that there appears to be some hope of a release, if Washington and Pyongyang held talks.

Other than the vigil here, there were vigils in San Francisco, Sacramento, Washington and Paris.

Check this site, lauraandeuna.com for updates, and sign a petition here.

I wish there was something more we could do.

It’s odd, we’ll go to war over oil, but not human rights. Huh.

I agree. Signing a petition seems so tame a response. I didn’t mention it but the turnout was very disappointing -at least when I was there.

And very few responses to your posting. Perhaps you should have put MJ in your headline.
