Hanson named NAU ‘Volunteer of Year’

Tom Nunn, Scott, Louie, Larry Mullins and Harry HenglValley PR veteran Scott Hanson, owner of HMA Public Relations, spent last weekend at the Northern Arizona University homecoming football game…but football was only part of the agenda. Hanson was in fact the recipient of the Jeff Ferris Volunteer of the Year Award.

Hanson (’83 B.S., Telecommunications) was given the honor in large part because of his commitment to working with young PR professionals. He has served as adviser to the NAU PRSSA chapter for more than a decade and is a consistent guest lecturer in classes at the Flagstaff campus. He also helped rewrite the communications curriculum in the early 90s and even helped out with fund raising for the school’s new communications building.

The award was given out at halftime during the homecoming football game on Oct 24. He was also honored during the NAU Foundation’s annual recognition luncheon at the High County Conference Center.

Great job Scott. By the way, that’s him in the center in the photo above. Nice beard!

Way to go, Scott. What, no baseball award? As Pratt would say, if you don’t deserve it,…..
