Aloha Paul Barton
The Valley is losing one of its top communications professionals this week as former PetSmart internal communications director Paul Barton, ABCÂ flies off to a new life in Honolulu. Paul and his family have one-way tickets to paradise and will be leaving this week — Paul has taken a job as head of internal communications for Hawaiian Airlines.
Paul leaves quite a legacy in the Valley and he will be missed. Prior to his work at PetSmart, Paul ran employee communications for America West Airlines, and prior to that he worked at Phelps Dodge and APS.
It’s a bittersweet departure as I’m certainly happy for Paul, his lovely wife Mirabel and their four kids. But over the years Paul carved out a niche in Phoenix as one of the best and brightest communications minds and he was always a person who was there to help with a communications challenge or issue. On the bright side, we now have a place to stay in Hawaii!
Aloha Paul and mahalo for all the good times! Have fun in paradise and don’t forget about us desert dwellers.

Paul: Look up Marci Elizondo (ex of AZ Office of Tourism) when you get there. She’s with the Big Island Visitors’ Bureau. Very sharp gal and worth knowing.
