PHOENIX – 12 News at 10 pmextended its dominance as the local news leader, according to Nielsen Media Research household (HH) ratings surveys. The market’s signature newscast finished on top with a 6.4 HH rating/12 HH share. It is the only local newscast in the market that improved upon its primetime lead-in, outperforming NBC prime’s ratings by 20%. 12 News at 5 pm (4.6 rating/9 share) and 12 News at 6 pm (4.8 rating/8 share) also advanced their leadership positions, finishing the just-concluded November ratings period on top.

The fastest-growing morning newscast was also on Channel 12, with more people waking up to “The Perfect Morning Blend” on 12 News Today. In the 6 am hour, the show was up 20% in HH share year-to-year! 12 Sports Tonight continues to dominate Sunday nights, nearly doubling its closest local sports competitor.

“We want to thank our viewers for choosing 12 News for the most complete coverage of local news and supporting our continuing service to the Valley and all of Arizona by contributing a record number of turkeys for St. Vincent de Paul,” said John Misner, President and General Manager at Channel 12.  “They can count on 12 News to continue reporting the important stories they saw in November including, the impact of Alzheimer’s on families, the strain brought by overuse of the Grand Canyon and our Call 12 for Action reports and volunteers that help consumers protect their money as we face record gas prices and growing financial pressures in running a household. We’re always grateful when we can extend our winning tradition and value the trust our viewers put in our clear approach to covering their world.”

Arizona viewers made Channel 12 their first choice for national news as well. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams finished first in the time period and Today continued its reign as the market’s #1 network morning program. In daytime, LIVE with Regis & Kelly finished first in its time period, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show continued to close the gap at 3 pm, up 50% in HH share from last year! Both The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Saturday Night Live handily remained the #1 choice for late-night viewing.
