s20301268_34155724_1470Andrew Johnson is leaving the Arizona Republic effective March 11. The business and technology reporter is heading to the Big Apple to cover banking technology at American Banker.

Johnson has been at the Republic since 2006. Prior to that he was in intern at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel among others. He is a 2006 graduate of Marquette University.

Johnson says public relations folks should send pitches regarding technology, aerospace, defense, startup companies and venture capital to business editors Kathy Tulumello and Mel Melendez.

Valley PR Blog wishes Andrew all the best in the big city. He will be sorely missed in the Valley.

This makes me very sad. Andrew really liked AZEC and did some great stories on it, and on the tech trends in Arizona. I loved to talk to him about my opinions, and he really educated himself. But I know this is a good opportunity for him.

Francine–ditto on that. Andrew is one of the few in town that gets it and works his butt off digging through the entrepreneurial fabric in AZ to unearth stories that are interesting.

Congrats on this. Well deserved. You’ll be missed. Bring your snow boots.
