Is it me, or do others see the end of the Pulliam family in the Valley? When editorial – from editors to the minion of interns - at any of its publications refuse to return phone calls or emails.

That’s how I knew the Tribune was in trouble.

Poor television stations in Phoenix. They used to read the Republic and then do stories. Now they must develop their own sources since Republic no longer has any news in it.

At least the Biz Journal appears to be healthy.

I for one am sad to see bizAZ go. When it first came out, it was a breath of fresh air, a truly innovative take on all the entrepreneurial activities going on in Arizona. When you roll a publication like that under the auspices of another, however, you snuff the life out of it, and that's unfortunately what happened. You can't combine big bureaucratic publications with independent innovative ones, not to mention the challenges of making a print version become successful in an online world.
