Landgrab for .asia domains begins

If you’ve got a client or business in Asia, now’s the time to stake a claim to the latest domain name for the region.  Considering that it’s a region that covers anywhere from India to Australia, and representing more than 3.8 billion people, it could be a valuable land grab.

Unlike other domain name buys, .asia names will be auctioned.

For comparison sake, companies grabbed over 2.6 million .eu domains within months of opening up, as reported by Domain News.
