Christina Leonard leaving Arizona Woman

By Len Gutman on December 4th, 2008 In Media

In what I’m sure will be the first of MANY moves at the Arizona Republic following yesterday’s layoffs, Christina Leonard is leaving Arizona Woman to return to the metro desk. I’m sure many of you also received this nice note from Christina late last night:

“I’m happy to announce that Cindy Miller will take over as editor of Arizona Woman magazine tomorrow. Cindy is an extremely talented journalist and currently edits AZ Society magazine.

Cindy might be familiar to many of you. She had served as editor of Arizona Woman for years prior to Society, so she’s extremely familiar with the magazine. I know she’s excited about moving forward with the publication.

As for me, I’ve loved serving as editor of Arizona Woman  these past few years. I’ve made some great friends and learned an incredible amount. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and I’m anxious to see where Cindy takes it.

I’m returning to the metro desk at The Republic and will take over editing our county/state team. It’s a great opportunity to return to news, and I’m looking forward to the new adventure.

Please send your pitches to Cindy (unless you’ve got a great tip on the state legislature or county government!). You can reach her to 602-444-1544 or cindy.miller@pni.com. I’m also sending Cindy my listserv of PR folks, so you won’t miss any updates.

Thanks again. It’s been a pleasure working with you on behalf of the magazine, and I look forward to working with you soon.”
