ASU on NBC News tonight

By Angelo Fernando on March 24th, 2008 In Media

I didn’t mention it here, (but here) that NBC News’ Ann Thompson visited the Decision Theater a few weeks back on a two-day visit to ASU.

As NBC’s Chief Environmental Affairs correspondent she didn’t have that myopic view of sustainability, looking at it not as another flavor of going green. (Quick: How many “Green Issues” have you seen lately?)

She explored areas as varied as student activism in sustainability (there is such a thing as a Sustainability Coalition) to the urban heat island work being done here.

If you’re interested, it’s today on Channel 12, during World News.

Angelo-
I live in the urban heat island, have watched the temperature steadily rise, saw this piece and found it fascinating. It also made me wonder why, as a news junkie, I’d never heard about this locally. Then the 6:00 local news came on with the assorted murder, mayhem, car-b-ques, Sheriff Joe adventure of the week and other “news” and I stopped wondering. Along the same lines, there are some great things going on at Thunderbird, another local jewel.
