Yeah, there’s an app for that
There’s nothing that excites the former journalist in me more than AP style, so I had to post this when my friend Scott Appel sent it along:
A 2009 AP Stylebook app is now available on the App Store for $28.99, usable on an iPhone or iPod Touch. It features searchable listings for the main, sports, business and punctuation sections, along with the ability to add custom entries and personalized notes on AP listings. Annual releases for the app are set to coincide with the release dates for the Stylebook print edition. As a bonus, 2009 AP Stylebook app users will automatically receive an upgrade to the 2010 AP Stylebook app as soon as it becomes available.
How geek is that! This is almost enough to make me go out an get an iPhone. Almost!

This is why I have said your next computer will be an iPhone! Look for 4G to come out at Christmas time. Sorry to all those who purchased before, not knowing it was coming out.

I’m keenly interested in how popular this will be for non journalists. My hopes are high.

Is it just me, or is the AP Stylebook seriously lacking? So many times I’ve looked something up and not even found the quandary addressed in AP. It seems very hit and miss to me … I’m not a “sanctioned” journalist; I’m a copy editor. I wonder if others feel the same way.
