Memo to Southwest Airlines: Could we write your dress code?
As avid readers of this blog, I am confident you will lend us a hand in crafting the Southwest Airlines dress code. Not that they have asked us, but we’re in a mood for some pro-bono work, and hence we’d like to help them out a bit.
They need help. Really!
How do I know this? They seem to have a knack of frequently asking passengers comply with some “code” that doesn’t exist, as you’ll notice from this story: Southwest Airlines makes man change T-shirt.
Not that it’s the first time. Consider:
Southwest boots woman for T-shirt: October 2005
This was the “meet the fockers” slogan with Bush, Cheney and Rice.
Southwest fashion police set no-fly zone: Sep 2007
Just last month, the Hooters girl was asked to change her dress.
On the Nuts About Southwest blog, a post about the mini skirt flap got 238 comments. One commenter had this to say:
“Are your guys (no sic) in advertising there clueless? … If you really want to make a statement, create a dress code for the airline, publish it and then enforce it.”
Maybe their marketing folks are in a time crunch. Maybe GSDM their super cool ad agency in Austin, TX, will appreciate it as our little contribution to what they call “dynamic collaboration.”
So if you’d like to help, leave your comments here and we’ll make sure they get to Brian Lusk, or even Colleen Barrett.
