Great sports is the best PR?
After 9/11, wasn’t it the Yankees-Diamondbacks World Series that helped return some normalcy? Now, 11 men have accomplished in 90 minutes what the U.S. and its allies have been helpless to establish for more than four years in Iraq (or did they?) – a sense of national unity, equality and hope. There’s platitudes and propaganda, then there’s the easy dialogues that come from having a championship sports team. And globally, when it’s soccer, there is no better word of mouth.
