Giving thanks
How do you show your appreciation and thanks to your clients and the media during the Holiday season? Last year I took up the daunting task of gathering items from my clients and arranging them in a pretty basket along with a Media Push calendar card and Media Push pens. I spent hours driving around the Valley dropping them off. Lets just say that I still find glitter and paper shredding in my car trunk.
Thing is, I don’t really know if all that effort was worth it or not. The media are not allowed to accept gifts over $25 and some told me they had to donate the bigger items to local charities or split up the goods throughout the newsroom. I guess rules have changes since I was in TV…we got so much good stuff!
I don’t doubt some things were just put straight into the trash bins, too. I was at a gathering at a client’s home a few months later and saw my partially opened basket in their office. (I guess at least they still kept it around, right?!)
This year, I plan to do something easier and more acceptable and WANTED…but not sure what just yet. I don’t want to send food…everyone sends food. Cards are boring and easy to toss away. I can’t be too “Media Push-y” with a promo item…so, what is a girl to do when she wants to truly thank those in her work?!
