Bye Bye, Borders @ Mill
Today a landmark on Mill Avenue will close its doors. I’m a big fan of Borders, especially so since it is practically steps away from my workplace.
No matter what you may think of big box stores, you probably have a good experience at any Borders. The reason? It hires some really dedicated people who know not just the store, but their products. Not in a sales pitchey way. You could have a conversation with about an author or a genre any time.

You might want to get in your car and head to nearby Changing Hands. Less convenient to be sure but they make Borders look like the big box chain store they are.

I want to second Dan’s recommendation. I went to Changing Hands for the first time last week and it’s an amazing bookstore. The people that work there are worth the trip alone.

Many of the early days of Keane was spent in that coffee shop. RIP Borders.

I was sad to learn that Borders on Mill Ave. was closing its doors. I think it’s depressing to see another company close and (obviously) to know people have lost their jobs as a result. It’s also a bit depressing to know that it changes Mill Ave. (yet again) — and not for the better since I don’t see them filling that two-story space any time soon.

Faretheewell Borders, we barely knew thee. Well, not entirely true, it was well used by visitors to the Ave.
I am hoping that someone does fill that space, because if it doesn’t find some sort of occupant it’s going to become another gaping dead space.
