10 things we obsessed about in 2008

By on January 2nd, 2009 In Hype!

Following my 2007 list of  “10 Things,” here are what struck me as the topics and issues we ranted and raved about in 2008:

  1. PR Spam – it came back over and over again, didn’t it? Great Podcast here.
  2. Sheriff Joe. The Arizona sheriff’s ability to   generate press, national attention, reality TV, and angst
  3. Sarah –the best gift to late night comedians — Palin and her ability to fire up/roil up everyone from the office water-cooler to YouTube
  4. Layoffs and shrinkage in Arizona newspapers.
  5. I’m a dumb PC. Microsoft’s lame response to the Apple ads, using Seinfeld, and that thing called the Mojave Experiment.
  6. AdBust. GoDaddy’s annual ridiculous ad ‘strategy’ during the Superbowl.
  7. Microhoo. The news, and spin around Microsoft’s unsuccessful bid for Yahoo
  8. Agency Crossing. Agency.com’s attempt to sue Scottsdale-based iCrossing for raiding its employees
  9. Bailout Transparency! Using social media to make the automaker’s bailout package palatable. Scott Monty’s doing a great job, but will FordStory work?
  10. Obamamania, which included widgets, wallpaper, Tweets, YouTube mashups, posts, comments and all the ra ra of the first social media election
