Students, pr pros participate in #prstudchat

By Abbie Fink on October 19th, 2009 In Advice

prstudchatDeirdre Breakenridge (@dbreakenridge) and Valerie Simon (@valeriesimon) will be bringing the PR community together on Twitter, for a live chat about the art and science of public relations. Mark your calendar for October 21st at noon ET. This month there is a bit of a twist.

Whichever school has the greatest number of participants wins an in-depth conversation with Breakenridge via Skype. The winning students will have an opportunity to pose questions and interact with one of the industry’s leading professionals. Additionally, the winning school will have the opportunity to earn some publicity for their PR programs.

BurrellesLuce will donate a $50US American Express Gift Certificate to the winning students and school.

“#PRStudChat offers students the opportunity to connect directly with industry leaders and educators in a new learning environment that brings together the academic and professional world,” said Simon, senior vice president, BurrellesLuce, media monitoring and measurement.

For more information join the PRStudChat LinkedIn Group. For those who have not engaged in a Twitter chat before, the #PRStudChat guide to Twitter chats provides tips on participating.

Student or educators must send a tweet to @valeriesimon in order to obtain their assigned university three-character hashtag to be used in every tweet for tracking. At the end of the chat, the tags will be tallied and the winner will be announced the following morning.
